Job Summary:
The Senior Production Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of an industrial gases facility in La Porte, Texas. This is a challenging and rewarding job that requires the employee to have problem-solving capabilities in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and production processes. Senior Technicians have primary responsibility for all units on-site. They will work independently as well as with a team while demonstrating initiative and self-motivation. The Senior Technician is also expected to lead their shift group and provide training and mentorship to other technicians.
Scope:
Employees in this role operate all aspects of the Linde industrial gases plant, from routine operations to solving production problems. They maintain compressors, pumps, valves, motors and related equipment. The technicians also start up, shut down, and operate the plant.
The technician must solve a variety of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and process control problems. The technician makes decisions which require coordination of interrelated tasks. The employee develops conceptual solutions to moderately difficult, non-routine issues/problems and provides guidance on technical leadership of projects.
Senior Technicians provide training to other operators to help develop knowledge and skills. They are also supported with supervision, lead technicians, engineers, safety, and other technical staff. Occasionally, the technician will travel to locations outside the assigned areas to support those plants and receive training.
Principal Accountabilities:
Maintain all Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Compliance activities
Start up, shut down, and operate the production processes.
Planning and executing operations and maintenance tasks (e.g. lockout-tagout)
Documentation, reports, and other administrative duties
Follow SOPs/SMPs for highly regulated plant processes and procedures
Perform routine maintenance and calibrations on a variety of process equipment such as compressors, gas analyzers, control systems, electrical systems, rotating equipment, and process control valves.
Troubleshoot and repair defective equipment, electrical components, and production processes.
Purchasing of materials and/or services such as contractors.
Operating equipment including forklifts and man-lifts.
Ensure gas and liquid trailers are loaded in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education
High School Degree required
Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
Experience:
3 - 7 years of experience is highly desirable in many of the following fields:
Air separation, oil refining, or similar complex process control operations
Instrumentation and control
General maintenance of industrial equipment
Compressors and compressor maintenance
Industrial mechanical maintenance
Industrial electrical or electrician
