Description

Manage Museum facilities, all aspects of operating the building, collections site and any additional facilities (currently 210,000 sqft).  Manages the overall operations, building systems and engineering functions of the facilities. Acts as Museum construction project manager per construction commitments.  Required to submit annual operating budget along with capital budgeting plans. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work of engineering, construction, and vendor/contractors; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Key Accountabilities

A successful candidate will provide the leadership needed to maintain and operate the facilities to the industry's high standards and the Museum’s high-quality standards to satisfactorily comply with safety, security, and regulatory requirements (codes, standards, regulations).  Well-rounded in all aspects of building operating systems; mechanical, building automation systems, access controls, camera systems, electrical, plumbing, fire system, fire sprinkler, fountain or pool systems.  Ability to oversee landscaping operations.  Understand the elevators and escalators regulations and how to manage vendors and consultants.

Will provide leadership and collaboration through proactive planning, support, and communication for all guests, staff, and stakeholders, and safety and security protocol management to provide an optimal guest experience in a safe, attractive, and productive environment.

This job is responsible for the departmental budget and the planning of all financial considerations associated with running the building within high standards in order to efficiently manage costs to optimize capital expenditures. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operational activities for the Museum buildings, site, and parking facility.  The candidate must be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, effectively manage stressful situations, and consistently make effective, high-quality decisions; must understand complex client and customer relationships and develop open, effective and consistent communication with client and customer representatives.  The candidate will have overall responsibility for Museum facilities department budgets, accounting and finance, maintenance and operations, contract services, material, equipment and supplies purchases, and services administration and helpdesk.

  • Key contributor, instrumental to Museum facilities repairs and maintenance projects with or without vendors and contractors.

  • Provide general supervision and strategic planning for the facility.

  • Create and maintain superior client and customer service practices.

  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital expense budgets.

  • Manage a staff of diverse skilled tradespeople and professionals –include managing qualified vendor/contractors.

  • Coordinate the operational aspects of the property in a manner, which protects, maintains and improves the value of the Museum’s assets.

  • Ensure all site management and operations practices are in compliance with high industry standards, as well as city, state and federal safety and environmental laws, codes, standards and regulations.

  • Perform reporting, forecasting, and asset management on all sites.

  • Implement preventive, ongoing, and anticipated maintenance/repair programs.

  • Develop multi-year capital improvement project plans and manage the process to complete the capital projects.

  • Manage third-party vendor contracted services as required, including periodic bidding and insurance updates.
