The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

 

Planner / Planner Senior

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Share production schedules to MCA to input schedule into IFS to drive material purchases.
  • Drops Shop Orders based on empty buffers through visual management on the floor and verification through WIP tracker.
  • Manage Kanban by reviewing Kanban tool. Update re-order point as necessary based on increase or decrease in rate of production as determined by the Operations Engineer.
  • Provide management with visibility of material shortages, backlogs, manage WIP variances and other potential schedule conflicts.
  • Plan and monitor material movement in production cycles to ensure continuous operations.
  • Confer with department supervisors to define progress of work to provide information on changes in processing methods received from methods or engineering departments.
  • Plan out Lead Times and Shop Orders for sub‐assemblies built internally and outsourced externally. Drop Shop Orders to maintain Kanban level for subassemblies.
  • Verify priorities through the Master Schedule and WIP Tracker. Update Shop Orders that are behind to put them the appropriate order in the Master Schedule for execution.
  • Provide customers with scheduling data, status to date and forecast completions.
  • Monitor the status of production jobs to determine if everything is being completed according to schedule. Provide input to Operations Engineer to drive completion on the floor.
  • Review material status to identify and report potential risks to management.
  • Work with cross functional teams to complete job orders on time.
  • Monitor execution of job orders and adjust schedules for timely delivery.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on company objectives, production strategies and support activities.
  • Coordinate with Operations Engineer in resolving production planning and control issues.
  • Work with Operations Engineer to drop Shop Orders.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • Planner - High School diploma or equivalent plus 4 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree and 2 years or more related experience.
  • Planner Senior - High School diploma or equivalent plus 6 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree and 4 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Manufacturing, materials or operations experience in a business environment.
