The Savannah Convention Center is currently seeking a part-time Guest Services Specialist to join our team. The Guest Services Specialist shall serve as a brand ambassador for the Authority exhibiting the shared values and business beliefs of our team of professionals. This position is an on-call, per event employee who is responsible for greeting each guest, answering questions the guest might have regarding an event, the Savannah Convention Center campus, or downtown Savannah.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Extend a warm, genuine welcome and fond farewell to all on our campus
Exemplify SCC core values in every interaction
Provide guests with any assistance including the location of their destination and escorting them when appropriate
Inform guests of SCC services and downtown amenities
Anticipate and address guests’ service needs to exceed their expectations
Ensure personal appearance is clean and professional
May serve as an usher, greeter, and/or ticket taker for special events.
Listen to any concerns that may arise and work to resolve any issues that guests may experience during their visit
Monitor visitor materials and displays in and around the information desks/kiosks
Conduct attendee surveys using iPad
Assist in the checking out or issuing of wheelchair, cart rental and coat/bag check.
Use a two-way radio for communication with event managers, public safety, and staff.
Report actual/suspected violations of policies, procedures, rules or regulations to your supervisor.
Act as a member of the emergency evacuation team by directing guests to emergency exits
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Must have a demonstrated ability to function in a fast paced, high-pressure environment
Customer service experience and exceptional customer service, communication skills.
Comfortable working with the public with an outgoing and friendly personality
Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to a guest, as needed
Understands the importance of providing customer service and being detailed oriented.
High degree of integrity and compliance
Thoroughness in task approach, follow-up & completion;
Excellent computer skills
Self-awareness
Assess, weigh and manage risk in the face of uncertainty
Research and interpret relevant information from a range of sources
Use appropriate technology to find and process information, while continuously looking for innovative ways to enhance our performance
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the hospitality industry OR currently pursuing a degree in hospitality or related field
Must be able to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) and available work a minimum of 16 hours per month
Employees must be able to stand or walk for an extended period
Must have a working knowledge of computers, connectivity/internet use, and familiarity with iPads
Must be able to demonstrate sound oral and written communication, multilingual preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires mobility.
Position requires prolonged periods of standing on feet, sitting, and walking.
Ability to go up and down stairs.
Occasional bending and stooping.
Frequent talking and hearing.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
