JOB SUMMARY:
Using engineering and continuous improvement techniques, establishes optimum manufacturing cell configuration (creation of most efficient manufacturing cell from material inflow, through production, to outflow). Leads process of industrializing and standardization of product routings, process descriptions, material flow/usage and throughput rates within the vision of Lean Manufacturing. Provides input for facility planning, plant layouts, and performs capacity studies to determine if plants are capable of filling customer orders and develops detailed plans/layouts to maximize process efficiencies and minimize space costs. Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. May provide work direction and/or supervision to other staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead new quotation activities by providing detailed Cost Estimates to include process flows, capital investments, plant layout, tooling, work holding, gaging, perishable tooling, cycle times, planning and launch costs along with developing master timing charts for achieving manufacturing milestones
- Leads process of industrialization and standardization of product routings, process descriptions, material flow/usage and throughput rates within the vision of Lean Manufacturing. Maintains manufacturing database to track and ensure accurate process descriptions, routings, and throughput rates and raw material usage documentation.
- Lead Design to Cost, evaluate product specifications of components and assemblies in close coordination with Product Engineering and Purchasing
- Develop, refine, and lead manufacturing processes in all manufacturing locations, including plant layout concepts, supply base, logistics, process flows, and workforce utilization to attain maximum efficiency of installed capacity.
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering leadership, expertise and support while maintaining a broad knowledge of product design, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
- Ensure the consideration of internal process standards and lessons learned, make sure that experiences and lessons learned are communicated back to the organization.
- Lead the planning phase for assigned programs and hand over to the manufacturing site for the program launch phase.
- Work with the manufacturing sites to establish, select, procure, and install equipment to support the launch of new programs.
