THE ROLE    

Utilizing initiative and independent judgment closely with the COO in planning, directing and managing the day-to-day operations of the distribution center working to meet established KPIs, SLAs, and operational goals. The Director of Operations has accountability for driving all distribution center and warehouse operational staff planning, performance, continuous improvement, safety, and training/development. This role has responsibility for strategy and execution in areas of performance, inventory control, cost management, talent development and customer service standards.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Compile and prepare information or data in a timely manner as needed by management.
  • Possess a willingness to accept other duties as assigned by management.
  • Hands on, working to plan and direct the outbound department activities in the distribution center operation from stock shelf to shipping dock for B2B, D2C, event and wholesale orders for both LTL, and small parcel shipments. Including but not limited to collaboration with teams to problem-solve operational issues such as order fulfillment, system configuration issues, training issues, workflow, etc.
  • This position is responsible for leading and developing a team of hourly team members
  • This position is also responsible for establishing daily production goals and will monitor stands to improve performance within their assigned department
  • Provide visible leadership and drive a motivated, positive, productive workforce to ensure safety and quality standards are met
  • Establish daily production goals and monitor intraday performance to achieve these goals
  • Participate in root cause analysis to identify problems and seeking out opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Identify, coach and develop team members through training, performance reviews, coaching, support and delegation as appropriate for their development level
  • Observe Team Member activities and work methods, to recommend areas of opportunity
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly preparation and planning to identify and prioritize action steps, set timelines, identify and allocate resources necessary to accomplish departmental objectives
  • Communicate policies to team members and act as the primary information source for the team, maintaining compliance, consistency, and taking corrective action when needed
  • Assist in training team members on distribution processes and equipment
  • Duties include frequent alternate standing, walking, bending, stooping, and sitting, throughout the course of the shift

 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the distribution center operations and logistics.
    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment.
    • Strong commitment to delivering a high level of customer and client service with demonstrated initiative, leadership, and management skills.
    • Customer service oriented with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
    • Must be flexible to work extend hours due to business requirements including late nights, weekends and holidays.
    • Must be able to work in a team environment.
    • Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders for up to 12 hours
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and WMS systems

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works in a distribution center environment.  The Distribution Center environment is not climate controlled.  Will be exposed to dust, odors, and noise.
