Assistant Accountant - HK

In a nutshell

The role of the Accounting Assistant is to take on responsibility for the general accounting and reporting duties for the Sainsbury’s Argos Asia Ltd Hong Kong entities. The role specifically requires a high level of integrity, organisation and attention to detail in order to support business in meeting its financial objectives.

Responsibility

• Handle full set of accounts and responsible for period end closing in two HK entities
• Responsible for daily accounting operations including HK AR/AP, general ledger and filing
• Support with periodic cost reporting with insightful commentary
• Assist in internal and external audit and HK profits tax filing
• Assist in company secretary related tasks
• Coordinate with UK treasury and HSBC on bank signatory and setup
• Accounting system maintenance and enhancement
• Adhoc support to Asia Finance teams and liaise with UK head office when required

• Relevant University degree and studying towards membership to a recognised accounting body (i.e. CA, CPA) desirable
• Relevant work experience is preferred.
• Fresh graduate or less experienced candidates will be considered as Accounting Assistant.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills – in particular Excel desirable
• Fluency in English and excellent overall communicator
• High attention to detail and Inquisitive and proactive personality
• Independent – able to resolve problems independently
• Team player
