Creative Production Lead

As a creative production lead, you will assist the creative director in creating precise technical drawings and visually compelling design renderings for SCAD departments, theaters, festivals, rental clients, production companies, and promoters. You will operate various technical systems for events and initiatives at SCAD throughout the year, ensuring all technical equipment is serviced and maintained for reliable and continuous operational use. You will supervise and coordinate the efforts of volunteers and paid technical production staff to ensure successful event execution, conduct meetings with internal and external teams to assess requirements and develop detailed rental cost estimates, and manage technical operations for the Savannah Film Festival and TVfest.
In this role, you will collaborate with the creative director of production to ensure the timely and accurate settlement of production quotes and invoices. You will conduct regular inventory checks and maintenance on all equipment to ensure optimal functionality. You will order expendable stock for various productions to meet all operational needs and create work orders for SCAD productions and events. Occasionally, you will drive large trucks loaded with production gear over long distances.
The ideal candidate should be able to lift at least 75 lbs. They must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally to manage and operate production requirements for university initiatives and events. Additionally, this candidate should be available to work many evenings and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required or comparable work experience
- Experience in production work for live theatrical events
- Experience in lighting, sound, and projection system operations
- Proficient in Vectorworks, Sketchup, and AutoCAD
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Keynote/PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Adobe Certified
- Microsoft Credentials
Travel required:
- 20–40%
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
