Rejoice School of Ballet is a non-profit dance studio that provides high quality dance training to children from diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Rejoice seeks to provide a loving and safe environment for kids to foster their creativity, and to participate in an activity (dance) that will teach them qualities and skills to be successful later in life, regardless of their individual goals and pursuits.
Rejoice Teaching Assistants help out in our children's ballet classes and serve as an assistant to the primary instructor. While the Instructor runs class, the Teaching Assistant is in the studio:
- Assist the lead teacher with children's dance classes, helping demonstrate proper class participation, and gently redirecting students' attention as needed.
- Shifts are available during after-school hours (3:00-7:30 PM) on weekdays, and Saturday mornings.
- We are looking for Teaching Assistants to assist at all four Rejoice locations: East Nashville, Hadley Park Community Center, Barefoot Republic Community Center, and Smith Springs Community Center. All four locations are 20-30 minutes from Belmont's campus.
Ability to participate in children's dance class, getting up and down off the floor, and being on feet for 45-60 minutes at a time. Some light lifting will be required (boxes, chairs, dance costumes, etc).
Required QualificationsRejoice School of Ballet expects Teaching Assistants to have the following qualifications:
(1) Must have Federal Work Study and reliable transportation to get to and from locations that are 20-30 mins away from Belmont.
(2) A background in dance (enough to participate in children's classes). The ideal candidate would have a strong enough dance background to serve as a backup to the primary Instructor, being able to step in and take over for the instructor if they are sick or late, though this is not a requirement.
(3)Experience working with children in a large group setting, including children from racially and socioeconomically diverse communities.
(4) Consistently punctual, reliable, and responsible. Able to act as a role model to the students at Rejoice School of Ballet.
Required EducationMust be enrolled as a student at Belmont University. Students studying Dance, Education, or Early Childhood Development are preferred but not required. Required ExperienceSome dance experience is required; experience working with kids is strongly preferred but not required.Apply for this role
