About the role

The Advanced Concepts & Technologies Group is looking for exceptional engineers, scientists, and mathematicians who are excited to work on challenging problems and join our team. The group develops technology to protect our deployed sailors, soldiers, and assets against advanced missile threats, while enabling operations in a rapidly evolving complex Electronic Warfare (EW) environment. The group’s research and development activities include concepts design, advanced algorithms development, software and hardware prototyping, experimental field-testing, and data analysis. Our team focuses on creating new capabilities through rapid prototyping of software and hardware. Of particular interest to the group is the development of advanced electronic warfare systems prototypes, advanced sensors prototypes, novel signal processing techniques, resource allocation and mathematical optimization approaches, and artificial intelligence to enable the development of next generation systems for fleet and surface assets defense.

Due to the wide-ranging nature of research, this dynamic group is comprised of a diverse team of scientists and engineers with expertise in physics, mathematics, computer science, and various engineering backgrounds. Job Description

The Assistant Group Business Manager will be a key member of the Air, Missile and Maritime Defense Technology business team for financial and operational management of a large research and development group with a focus on our Air Defense program portfolio.

The candidate will serve as the assistant to the Group Business Manager performing business management activities related to the financial aspects of a very active group. Responsibilities will increase and may include but are not limited to developing, analyzing, monitoring, and reporting the financial status of multiple programs, as well as preparing program specific budgets, spend plans, and custom sponsor reports. Will monitor handshake agreements with other groups and divisions. Work with Group admins to close Purchase Orders and Programs as necessary and monitor the Group travel to ensure proper charging to Programs. Will assist in review and approval of procurements and also work with Business Manager and CSD on major procurement deliverables.  Will approve support and subcontractor timesheets. Will carry out special projects as required.  Will interact with Group Admins and provide supervision and inputs where appropriate.

Requirements

    • Associate degree in business or related field, bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • 1+ years of financial and/or applicable experience required.
    • Candidate should have demonstrated organizational skills, experience in handling confidential and/or propriety Information in an appropriate manner, and the ability to work in a deadline sensitive environment
    • Experience with computer based financial management tools and Microsoft Office is required as is proficiency in advanced Excel functions.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative and fast-paced environments 
    • Demonstrate initiative and an ability to work autonomously and in teams 
    • Demonstrated skills in financial data reporting and analysis
    • Experience creating reports or presentations communicating financial data
    • Familiarity with SAP is desired.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required
