Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division is looking for a Production Planner 2 to support the Space Components organization/business unit in the Propulsion operating unit in Commerce, CA.

Overview

Reporting to the Production Planning Manager, the Production Planner plans sequence of assembly and other manufacturing operations relating to specific portion of program and product deliverables for the manufacturing department. Plans detail operations from blueprints, engineering orders, change notices, and other engineering releases. Prepares shop work orders assistance from the materials group and manufacturing engineering. Ability to work with inventory system to support build requirements. Provides status of completed and in process work.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate production workflow for one or multiple programs and products
  • Plan and prioritize operations to ensure customer schedule and requirements are met
  • Create production work order documentation for release to the shop floor
  • Assist in determining manpower required to meet schedule demands,
  • Work with materials planning to determine and schedule materials needed to cover production demand
  • Coordinate with program management and the manufacturing manager staffing requirements for  production operations
  • Monitor jobs to ensure they will be completed on schedule
  • Identify potential issues or deal with current disruptions to minimize delays in the value stream
  • Obtain output information (number of finished products, percentage of defectives etc.)
  • Prepare and submit status and performance reports
  • Keep paperwork organized
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Materials Purchasing and other staff

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, and 5 years’ additional education and/or related experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ related experience in planning or support role
  • Experience working with an inventory and/or materials requirements planning MRP system
  • Ability to work well as part of an integrated team including technicians, engineers, principal level engineers/scientists along with internal and external customers
  • High level of proficiency in MS Word and Excel; basic experience with PowerPoint
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced, highly technical work environment
  • Responsible self-starter and team player with manufacturing or service experience
  • Great problem solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship is a bona fide requirement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related technical field
  • 3+ Years’ experience in inventory, materials or production planning, or related experience
  • Past experience and involvement with production or materials planning

Primary Level Salary Range: $82,900.00 - $124,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
