Sr. Food Scientist (Hybrid)

Description

• Lead formulation, management, and execution of development from bench to production for new or renovated products
• Responsible for gaining alignment on project timelines and product requirements
• Provide technical expertise regarding the product, process, formulation, and scale up
• Organize and lead plant trials
• Conduct Shelf life and sensory studies, evaluate product, and share feedback.
• Interpret consumer research and assemble input from cross-functional teams to provide product development direction
• Maintain knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations and policies
• Work closely with the sales and marketing team to prepare and execute customer presentations
• Research and procure raw materials for development projects
• Partner with the purchasing team on projects to strengthen the supply chain
• Review specification sheets and other supplier documents
• Work closely with FSQ to monitor and review new materials
• Maintain concise recipe record of project work and outcomes
• Create ingredient statements and nutritional panels
• Write product specs for new and existing products
• Review and approve product labels
• Maintains accurate documentation
• Assist in validation tests to approve new materials or processes
• Schedule, lead or facilitate cross-functional meetings
• Help to lead the R&D team during the absence of a manager or director
• Stay up to date on food science technology through training and education
• Support sample fulfillment activities
• Assists with special in-plant or lab projects as directed

Requirements

Physical Requirements 

• Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties. 
• Work conditions vary, working time will vary based upon work / project needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 5 to 90 F degrees in processing departments. 
• Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick. 
• Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 50 lbs. to stand for long periods of time • Close visual acuity to view a computer terminal, analyze reports, manage data and detail
