About the role
The AWS Code Services team is seeking an experienced and motivated Head of Product Management to set the vision and direction for our DevOps tools and services, including our latest product CodeCatalyst. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is passionate about software development and wants to improve the experience across a wide range of developer services. In this role you will be part of the extended Code Services leadership helping to not only set the vision for a crucial segment of developer tools but also org-wide standards and processes.
Your mission is to lead your product management team ensuring they are focused on the top customer needs and are partnering effectively with their engineering counterparts to deliver features, improvements and services predictably and reliably. You will oversee a customer obsessed team of product managers that deeply understand the needs of developers. You will use that knowledge and understanding to develop new and compelling ideas and will effectively build and prioritize product backlogs. You and your team will work with senior engineering counterparts to plan and schedule work and ensure the smooth transition from concept to engineering. In addition you will work with engineering leaders to maintain a consistent rhythm of planning, execution and review and ensure that PM and engineering work as one team.
You will ensure that your team upholds the organizations high product management standards and aligns with org-wide planning schedules. You will establish tools, frameworks and programs for prioritizing work and ranking features and improvements. In addition to helping teams deliver more effectively, you will also help them understand customer trends, sentiment and opportunities. You’ll enable your team to have more insight on how customers are using the products your team delivers. Your team will work directly with customers and the PMO lead to measure sentiment and product usage and synthesize that data into actionable information that your team can use to make better planning decisions.
The right candidate will possess a strong product and program management background and have extensive experience working as an individual contributor and manager leading large projects. You must excel at written and verbal communications. You will have experience with developer tools and software development processes. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means anticipating bottlenecks, making tradeoffs and balancing the needs of the business versus technical constraints. Cross-team coordination, project management and an ability to learn and understand new technology are essential.

* Hire and develop a world-class team of product managers and program managers.
* Communicate product and program updates through narratives and reports
* Help teams make strategic trade-offs on how to prioritize work
* Work with senior engineering leaders to establish product vision and long term plans
* Ensure team upholds Amazon leadership principle and org tenets
* Provide Project planning, Milestone management, Scope management, Resource forecasting;
* Pricing and Cost Analysis
* 5+ Years product management
* 2+ Years managing and/or mentoring Product Managers
* In-depth understanding of the software development process
* In-depth understanding of Source Code and Package Management Tools
* In-depth understanding of Work Item Planning tools such as Jira, Rally and Asana
* In-depth knowledge of prioritization frameworks and methods
* In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel
* Strong problem solving ability
* Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
* Experience planning and delivering highly available services
* Working with a global team across many time zones

Basic Qualifications
