Physical Therapist Responsibilities:

  • Conducting initial and ongoing evaluations of residents’ physical capabilities, including strength, mobility, and endurance.
  • Identifying barriers to independence and functional movement.
  • Developing individualized treatment plans to enhance residents’ mobility, strength, and functional independence.
  • Addressing challenges related to mobility, balance, and pain management.
  • Assisting in recovery from injuries, surgeries, or illnesses through targeted physical therapy exercises and techniques.
  • Helping residents improve their ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) such as walking, dressing, and transferring.
  • Implementing strengthening, flexibility, and coordination exercises to improve motor function and prevent further injury.
  • Educating residents and staff on fall prevention techniques and mobility strategies.
  • Recommending and training in the use of assistive devices like walkers, wheelchairs, or braces.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care.
  • Participating in care planning meetings to set and review therapeutic goals.
  • Maintaining accurate records of assessments, treatments, and progress to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school with a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.
