Senior Backend Engineer - Europe Money Movement

We reduce risk and improve resilience. We work with banking and payment operations teams to make their processes more efficient.</p><p>We are one of the largest money movement teams in the company, working on products and features for all of our European customers, enabling pay-ins and payouts in European currencies.</p><h3>Qualifications</h3><p><strong>What does it take: </strong></p><ul><li><p>5+ years of experience in Java or Kotlin (or other JVM based language)</p></li><li><p>Strong experience with Spring framework, relational databases, and distributed and concurrent systems (Kafka)</p></li><li><p>Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices</p></li><li><p>A strong product mindset, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points</p></li><li><p>Being able to work independently on customer problems is a key to success - you take responsibility and end-to-end ownership of your projects: drive and own them to make sure we hit the goals we want to achieve</p></li><li><p>Close collaboration with product managers, data scientists, data analysts, engineers and other product teams is a must have and is something to expect to happen on a daily basis</p></li><li><p>Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audience</p></li><li><p>You enjoy writing testable code and believe in Test Driven Development</p></li><li><p>You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback</p></li><li><p>You strive to improve our team culture and processes</p></li><li><p>Being able to propose technical solutions that optimise for latency and throughput at the same time</p></li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><p><strong>What does success look like?</strong></p><ul><li><p>You'll be having a real world impact by building the engine that drives payments across Europe</p></li><li><p>You’ll have onboarded and found your place through understanding your team and tribe vision and how you can contribute</p></li><li><p>You’ll understand how our values can help you guide your work</p></li><li><p>You’ll enable the scaling of the product</p></li><li><p>You’ll understand our customers and the impact our product makes in their lives</p></li><li><p>You’ll understand the reasons behind problematic payments and customer difficulties and how to go about solving them</p></li><li><p>You’ll help us scale-up and build a world class money transfer product by finding solutions to our technical challenges and opportunities</p></li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Find out more about our benefits in our <a href="https://www.wise.jobs/2020/07/02/benefits-in-our-budapest-office/">Budapest</a> office.</strong></p><p> </p><p><strong>Interested?
