The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serves approximately 37,000 students in 100+ schools. The Cleveland Plan defines CMSD’s approach to the reinvention of public education and holds our community accountable for the success of Cleveland’s schoolchildren. The Cleveland Plan is supported by Ohio House Bill 525, which provides much-needed flexibility and autonomy for the district and its schools. Our schools have autonomy over human and financial resources in exchange for accountability for

performance. The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing his or her school as a high-quality, high-expectations academic center with a focus on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Salary Band: 5
Compensation: $54,920.00 - $76,888.00

Audit, monitors, review and processes Capital Programs expenditures to ensure accuracy and completeness, maintenance and monitoring of Construction Projects.

Responsibilities

  • To perform reconciliation of cash and investments
  • Maintain control over the District’s accounting system and the integrity of the information submitted to it
  • Preparing and issuing numerous financial reports including the Comprehensive Annual Report
  • Audit, monitor, review and process Capital Programs expenditures to ensure accuracy and completeness, maintenance and monitoring of Construction Projects
  • Maintain and update tuition database in order to comply with the state reporting requirements
  • Assist with other duties related to the efficient operation of the office of the Chief Financial Officer and his/her executive staff
  • Maintain and update student tuition database utilizing Microsoft Access
  • Assure accuracy of student data information for output to management and outside parties
  • Creation and processing of Purchase Orders
  • Generate, monitor and process invoices for student tuition (resident and out-of-district students).
  • Communicate and correspond with Special Education Department, other school districts and alternative schools
  • Organize and maintain tuition files
  • Collaborate with staff of Special Education Department in verifying student tuition reports for Ohio Department of Education
  • Work with Research Department in creating student reports relating to collection and payment of tuition monies
  • Assist in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
  • Assist with the year end audit
  • Prepare yearly indirect cost report
  • Prepare and record various journal entries
  • Audits, monitors and reviews incoming expenditures, purchase orders, resolutions and contracts for accuracy and completeness
  • Works under tight deadlines and handles multiple, detail-oriented tasks with close attention to detail
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate should be willing to do whatever it takes to advance CMSD’s transformation work
  • College Diploma/Accounting or Finance Degree preferred or minimum of five years’ experience in Financia
