The Reporter Video team identifies compelling stories and brings the depth and breadth of our news report onto our site and other platforms through video that features the expertise of our world-class journalists. A Production Coordinator on the Reporter Video team plays a key role in keeping the team organized and efficient as we scale our operations.
You have a sharp eye for detail, can multitask and are able to prioritize to meet and help others hit deadlines. You are digitally savvy, a fast learner and motivated by problem solving. You are familiar with video production and have a strong interest in news. Confidentiality, collegiality, collaboration, and diplomacy are necessary for this role as is assertiveness in order to hold people to deadlines. You will work with colleagues across the newsroom, and in conjunction with the video operations team.
This is a hybrid position based in New York and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance.
Responsibilities:

Coordinate many parts of the Reporter Video operation, including but not limited to:

Production logistics from pre- to post-production, with support from the video operation’s team.

Kick-off meetings for priority projects and collaborations that require graphics and/or field production.

Needs for video shoots and production, including call sheets and equipment lists, in collaboration with the video operations team.

Communication on project status with stakeholders, especially around ambitious projects and new experiments.

Shift rotations to ensure coverage in evenings or weekends, as needed.

Production handoff between staff on video projects in different time zones or varying shifts.

Work with studio management to coordinate scheduling and production needs for RV shoots.

Track projects, update production and publishing schedules in a fast paced environment.

Identify opportunities to improve workflow, project tracking and automated reminders for production updates.

Map out missed deadlines and help leadership identify inefficiencies.

Help plan training sessions and workflow/process rollouts.

This role reports to a Senior Executive Producer, Reporter Video
Basic Qualifications:
-
Minimum 1 year of experience coordinating or planning in a newsroom

Familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides

Proven organizational or project management skills

Basic data analysis skills
-
Familiarity with project management tools e.g. Airtable
Preferred Qualifications:
