Job Description
Traffic Engineer - Deputy Project Manager
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, highly talented Traffic Engineer to join a large, dynamic, and highly technical team of planners, engineers, and technicians in the Atlanta, GA office and grow into the Project Management role. This position requires knowledge in a variety of Traffic Engineering and ITS disciplines including planning, design, architecture, and communications. The successful candidate will aid in the continued growth of the department through the development of junior staff, provision of client service, and assistance with marketing efforts. You'll have the opportunity to be part of cutting-edge projects that utilize the latest technologies for improving all modes of transportation. To be successful you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a desire to learn.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical oversight/support
- Plan and manage tasks and project team members
- Coordinate with other disciplines
- Interact and coordinate regularly with clients and sub-consultants in the various assignments
- Lead the engineering efforts for traffic engineering reports and studies
- Lead the engineering efforts for traffic signal design projects, ITS planning and design projects; including following the owner agency's plan development process for preliminary/ROW/construction plans
- Travel within Georgia as required to serve the clients and projects - Periodic travel to clients in other states may also be required
Qualifications
Minimum:
- BS Civil Engineer with 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- A valid U.S. Driver’s License is required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer License
- Experience and proficiency in CAD, and various traffic simulation software applications such as MicroStation and Synchro
- 8 years of traffic engineering and ITS experience or related field
- Experience with GDOT, municipalities, or other state DOT's projects
- Experience working effectively within a team-based, collaborative environment
