• Role-specific skills:
  • Ability to use Python and/or Go in development
  • Familiarity with batch processing technologies: Spark, Hadoop, MapReduce
  • Familiarity with SQL semantics and strong analytical skills
  • Familiarity with developing in a Cloud Native architecture, particularly experience with AWS and Azure
  • Familiarity with distributed serving frameworks and related technologies: e.g. Gunicorn Thrift, Finagle Thrift, Protobuf 
  • Experience with common workflow orchestration frameworks, such as Airflow
  • Experience with stream-processing technologies: Kafka, Spark structured streaming
  • Experience with ML open source libraries such as Tensorflow, Pytorch, ONNX
  • Experience developing MLOps architecture, such as Feature Stores and ML inference engines

Role Responsibilities

• Role Specific Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, build, and deploy backend services and infrastructure that support the Detection engine
  • Provide standardized solutions within Pod’s (Signal Platform, ML Training Platform, Detection Online Systems) ownership area that support 3+ MLE
  • Ownership of a “swim lane” within Pod’s larger ownership area (e.g. Signal Platform swim lanes: Real-time Signal Aggregates, Batch Signal Aggregates, Cost/Efficiency) and multi-month roadmap
  • Drive successful adoption and feedback-gathering of Pod’s solutions across MLE teams
  • Function as Feature lead for projects that require mentoring or leading 1+ other engineers
  • Collaborate closely with MLE (Message Detection, Cloud Unity) to identify pain points and use-cases and incorporate into a multi-month roadmap for ownership areas
  • Collaborate with Pi to identify & execute on directionally correct ways of scaling out Detection infra and the technologies we should be adopting
• This set of responsibilities are general responsibility expectations for all SWE3s
  • Participates in team roadmap discussions & proposing long term plans
  • Writes code with testability, readability, edge cases, and errors in mind
  • Writes and reviews technical design documents
  • Be part of team’s on call process
