Health Affiliates Maine is accepting applicants for a Veterans Program and Case Management Clinical Supervisor to join their team. This is a full-time Salaried position.


Administrative/Specific Position Duties:

  • Provide clinical supervision for at least 15 full-time equivalent staff, including Veteran case managers and Fox staff, ensuring the minimum supervision is met monthly.
  • Provide ongoing individual and group clinical support/supervision consultation to supervisees via phone, video platform, and e-mail weekly as required.
  • Utilize and provide support to all staff to follow applicable Veteran and Fox procedures.
  • Participate in Veteran focused trainings and events as requested by the Clinical/Assistant Director.
  • Understand and maintain knowledge of Veteran and military culture and how it impacts mental health, suicide risk and interaction in the workplace.
  • Receive and maintain appropriate training to develop and maintain a high-level of comfort with Veteran suicide risk assessment, screening, and referral steps.
  • Organize content for and facilitate Veterans clinical case reviews, including monitoring outcomes.
  • Use the NASW (National Association of Social Workers) Code of Ethics, MHRT/c Code of conduct, applicable laws, and policies to help resolve ethical dilemmas.
  • Inspire supervisee engagement in work activities through participation in employee recognition, staff development, goal setting, team-building activities and by providing ongoing recognition of their key role in achieving our agency's mission.
  • In collaboration with the Administrative Supervisor, follow all agency discharge and transfer policies and procedures including arranging back-up coverage for client(s) when applicable, providing client communication and monitoring for clinical appropriateness of discharge and transfer.
  • Provide diagnostic assessments for children and adults via telehealth.
  • Have a working knowledge of the population served by the case management department, including applicable MaineCare, Contracting and Licensing regulations/requirements.
  • Review and approve supervisees' client charts for clinical documentation, quality assurance, licensing, MaineCare, and contractual compliance. (Clinical audits are completed annually for each Per Diem supervisee, minimally).
  • Write section 17 letters for clients that qualify for Section 17 services as needed.
  • Provide support to staff to develop the skills needed to engage clients in completing necessary paperwork to maintain services.
  • In collaboration with the administrative supervisor, evaluate each supervisee's performance and provide formal feedback to supervisees at intervals set by the agency's practices and procedures.
  • In coordination with the Administrative Supervisor, implement progressive discipline measures with supervisees and determined by all applicable agency procedures.
  • Participate in and facilitate CM and Veterans program orientation as needed.
  • Understand the utilization review and referral processes for support supervisees in working to resolve client related issues.
  • Understand BHH requirements to provide clinical coverage as needed to BHH Team.
  • Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with the Department of Health and Human Services and other agencies/providers.
  • Function as agency liaison and representative to the community in relation to the case management department as needed.
  • Be prepared for and actively participate in Department staff meetings and individual supervision with the Assistant Director/(Clinical Lead Supervisor).
  • Promote Health Affiliates Maine visibility through attendance of community events and meetings as part of the agency and department marketing plan.
  • Protect and maintain the confidentiality of client records and information, following HIPAA, HITECH regulations and 42 CFR.
  • Log/Maintain records of employee interactions and complete other forms, paperwork when necessary (e.g., supervision logs, progress notes, incident reports, etc.).
  • Attend and participate in clinical and administrative supervision and training as prescribed by your licensing and Health Affiliates Maine.
  • Have knowledge of the Rights of Recipients of Mental Health Services and the AMHI Consent Decree.
  • Practice a trauma-informed approach to care including maintaining a calm, non-defensive attitude to de-escalate crisis situations, encouraging the health, safety, and welfare of clients, and ensuring self-determination.
  • Participate in mandated reporting per agency policy and Maine Law including the review and submission of critical incidents, reportable events, and DA reports.
  • Assist the Clinical Director in monitoring clinical/team member performance measures
