About the role
Overview
Processes instruments, operates washers and sterilizers, provides instruments/sets requested to assist the nursing staff in providing quality nursing care in the Operating Rooms, Neuro Operating Room, and Day Surgery Center, assigns staff and maintains supply needs.Responsibilities
Assigns appropriate staff to insure sufficient coverage of the sterile processing area, utilizing appropriate personnel functions. Assigns and monitors the work of Sterile Processing technicians.--------------------------------------------------Decontaminates, reassembles and sterilizes instrumentation according to policy and procedure and universal precautions. Assembles instruments in accordance to sterilization requirements. Inspects instruments for any defective/broken or missing components and replaces as needed. Disinfects case carts and returns to staging area. Assembles, wraps and sterilizes instrument sets and trays following inventory list maintaining accuracy and quality control.--------------------------------------------------Demonstrate values that exhibit Cone Health values. Manages resources efficiently and works with team members to reduce costs and improve quality.--------------------------------------------------Demonstrates knowledge of how to operate instrument and cart washers as well as sonic cleaners and sterilizers. Understands mechanical functions and safety features of equipment. Monitors cycles for proper functions and tests parameters of time and temperature; reporting findings appropriately. Performs chemical, biological and mechanical tests as required and understands functions of each and appropriately documents results. Reports malfunction(s) to Processing Supervisor, Assistant Director or Director. Troubleshoots and corrects minor equipment problems--------------------------------------------------Maintains adequate inventory of instruments, supplies and equipment and monitors and records supply expiration dates. Supervises and participates in overall processing of instruments, supplies and equipment to meet the daily OR schedule needs.--------------------------------------------------Qualifications
EDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalent, RequiredAssociates, Preferred EXPERIENCE:Minimum of three years? experience in Sterile Processing or related field., RequiredPreferred:5 years' experience LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDRequired: CSPDT or CRCSTPREFERREDApply for this role
