We are looking for talented individuals from all backgrounds and experiences to join us on this exciting journey as we grow our Engineering team within our ELL Division. As part of our technology hub, the Software Engineering Manager will play a key role in shaping the future of technology and innovation in ELL.
You will be responsible supporting our content development teams in the establishment of a “best-in-class" content authoring ecosystem. Content development is a critical aspect of the learning experience and we have a distributed international team of 250 employees with over 2,000 external contracted vendors collaborating on content development. Our toolset has evolved, and our tool set is a mixture of legacy and modern digital tools. The primary focus of this role is to accelerate the adoption of best-in-class authoring tools across the organisation and to do this an excellent understanding of publish tools, process and the needs of digital first authoring & publishing is required.
Job Description: As an Experienced Content Tool Software Engineering Manager, you will play a vital role in understanding requirements and content deliverables with stakeholders from executive to operational levels. Your technical expertise and managerial skills will be crucial in ensuring the successful execution of technical solutions, meeting deadlines, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Responsibilities:
End to End understanding and representation of “current state” content tool environment and publishing process.
Ability to support the definition and execution of a digital content roadmap strategy to decommission legacy tools and introduce best-in-class and best practices to deliver performance and cost efficiencies considering a complex ecosystem of internal and external content platforms.
Key Internal Pearson Content Technologies – PACE (Digital Authoring Toolset), BBQ (Publishing Tool), Alfresco (Web File Management) & Digital Repositories
Key External Pearson Content Technologies – mAuthor, Lucid Link, Iconik, InCopy, InDesign, Adobe Suite
Integration of suitable Generative AI tools and experience of algorithm configuration and Content service API integrations.
Supporting the rights and permission needs of the business with content development tools and workflow to assist with the development process.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Content/Product managers, developers, designers, architecture, data, QA, Operations and Customer Service, to support delivery goals, business needs, and timelines.
Knowledge of low code/no code authoring for digital media first with accessibility as a priority.
Be accountable for the data generated as part of the product offering, understanding its journey into different platforms and its uses to help business to make decisions in an outcome driven way.
Track and report on roadmap progress, budget, and capacity allocation, ensuring timely and successful value delivery.
Responsible for the budget of the solution(s), understanding the total cost of ownership, making the right financial choices.
Understand security and compliance requirements and drive their fulfilment with Content, Product and Development teams.
Act as a technical leader, providing guidance and making critical decisions to drive technical excellence and ensure the scalability and maintainability of software systems.
Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and methodologies, and recommend process improvements and technical solutions accordingly.
