About the Position

The Full Stack Software Engineer: Contract role is based in the Dublin, Ireland office.

We’re seeking a talented, highly motivated software engineer with extensive development experience to join us on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work closely within our development team on the implementation of asynchronous and distributed web applications.

As a member of a new squad, you will be key to delivering new tools and capability for RenaissanceRe colleagues around the world. You will be working with engineers, architects, designers and domain experts to build applications with modern software tools and practices.

Technology Stack:

Figma, React.js, Next.js JavaScript, AG-Grid, Typescript, HTML, and CSS, Storybook, Python, Kong, AWS Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, Fargate, Kinesis Data Streams, PostgreSQL)

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain high-quality, scalable applications.

• Continuously improve and optimize performance and user experience.

• Collaborate closely with business domain leads, users, designers, Frontend and Backend engineers to ensure seamless integration of frontend components through APIs and smooth data flow.

• Optimize applications for performance, observability, and reliability.

• Perform testing before release. Write and maintain unit tests and integration tests to ensure code stability and reliability

Candidate Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Modern Web Application development in particular React, Next.js

• Experience in Python-based backend development, especially with modern frameworks like FastAPI/Django.

• Experience working with AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway Fargate, Kinesis Data Streams)

• Extensive experience in writing and maintaining unit tests and integration tests.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code frameworks like AWS CloudFormation.

• Experience with software automation platforms like GitHub Actions.

• Strong problem-solving skills and logical thinking, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Nice to Have:

• Prior experience in working in Financial Services/Insurance industry.

• Prior experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
