Job Summary

This position relates directly to financial aid advising for new and returning student populations. This position serves as a liaison with appropriate offices and agencies and conducting public presentations on financial aid programs. The Financial Aid Counselor conducts student need analysis, makes professional judgment decisions, resolves conflicting information and reviews student eligibility for aid programs in compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$3,400 - $3,744 monthly

Required Qualifications

1. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
   A. College coursework in any discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      -30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      -Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
      -90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      -Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
   B. Work experience coordinating office, business, or customer service/relations activities.
2. One (1) year (12 months) of higher education, student services, or closely related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience in financial aid
2. Bilingual in Spanish

Work Hours

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. Occasional evening and weekend availability required.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

1. Move about in various locations across as needed to complete day-to-day work.
2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
3. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
