Senior scientist/engineer - semiconductor molecular beam epitaxy (MBE)

Quandela is a European start up that provides photonic quantum computers that are modular, scalable, energy-efficient and accessible both on the cloud and on premise.

Our team specialises in the development of both software and hardware solutions for a variety of quantum applications.

We offer a wide range of services, from developing the most efficient and brightest single photons sources, to creating algorithms for quantum computers and providing cloud quantum computing solutions.

Quandela is building up a cutting-edge MBE facility for growth of III-V semiconductors to supply high-quality quantum dot material as a base for building state-of-the-art single-photon sources and photonic quantum computers.

The specific tasks we have in mind are:

-          Support the planning and procurement of a cutting-edge MBE machine for producing III-V semiconductor heterostructures of the highest quality

-          Help with planning and setting up of an MBE lab including all the necessary support infrastructure.

-          Setting up of the necessary test infrastructure for sample characterization including relevant process automation.

-          Co-develop a technical MBE roadmap for reaching certain material specifications.

-          Working with local academic research groups and small SMEs to grow QD samples, with the goal of testing different growth recipes and improving optical properties.

-          Assist in grant writing through contributing specific MBE knowledge.

-          Supervise interns, Master and PhD students working on MBE growth.

Requirements

You are a scientist/engineer with strong expertise and experience (10+ years) in semiconductor molecular beam epitaxy (MBE).

You are also a dynamic person with strong enthusiasm and work ethic, and an ambition to work at the cutting-edge of deep tech.

Hands-on vacuum and MBE experience are essential.
