Temporary Mentor for Strategic Public Health Communication

This position is based out of Cornell University’s Master of Public Health Program, seated within the Department of Public and Ecosystem Health. This position is for a mentor role for the Strategic Public Health Communication Course. Dr. Amelia Greiner Safi will supervise this mentor and provide access to necessary resources (i.e., Canvas, rubrics).
Responsibilities
- Mentor 20-25 public health students in their Mini Campaign Assignment Set
- Host 3 meetings with students over the term (kickoff, October meeting, November meeting)
- Grade performance in meetings and in final products using rubrics supplied
- Submit grades on Canvas
- Share concerns about student progress
- Attend periodic mentor meetings with teaching team
- Provide feedback on assignment design
Requirements
- Applicant must have previously served as a mentor for the VTPEH 6184 class
- Have 10+ years’ experience in advising communication and engagement strategy in the health/risk/science domain
- Be a reliable, trusted support for the students able to offer constructive feedback on how to grow their assignments
- Be able to work with students from a wide variety of backgrounds on a range of public health topics
Position Details
- Position is hybrid with the possibility of all meetings with students being remote.
- Over the semester, this position will require approximately 60 hours
- Pay per hour is $50
- Position begins on Sept 5 and end December 31st
