Position Description:

The Professor Term (Open Rank) and Executive Director is responsible for providing clinical services and for providing strategic leadership, vision, and direction to all aspects of the operation of Campus Health Services. Service lines include the provision of primary care, occupational health, and psychiatric services. They are responsible for maintaining the American Association of Ambulatory Healthcare Centers (AAAHC) accreditation. The Executive Director of Campus Health Services serves as a core member of the Assistant Vice President's Wellbeing group and is responsible for implementing the mission and vision of Campus Health for a multi-faceted campus population and for implementing student wellbeing initiatives.  The key result areas for the Executive Director include providing clinical services, clinical oversight, leadership, operations, human resources, compliance and accreditation, and administrative responsibilities. Faculty rank is contingent upon qualifications and experience.

Other responsibilities include the direction of administrative support services, communications, information technology, fiscal management, and facility management.  Service to the Division of Student Affairs in active support of its mission and strategic vision, collaboration with campus and community stakeholders on health and well-being matters, and public health and emergency management/planning are collateral responsibilities. 

The Executive Director will collaborate within the Division of Student Affairs and across the University to advance and support a vibrant campus experience within a multi-faceted campus population.  Additionally they will serve on university-wide committees and provide support for university-wide processes.  The Executive Director must work well in a complex, fast-paced, and continuously evolving environment and be capable of embracing emerging technologies and dealing with competing priorities.

The Executive Director is a position with significant impact and influence within and beyond the Belknap and Health Science Center campuses.  The Executive Director drives the tenor of the Campus Health operation and is a major contributor to efforts to both define and improve campus wellness and wellbeing.  They serve as a primary resource for senior administration at UofL on matters relating to health and risk. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Services (50%)

• Serves as lead physician and provides clinical services for a multi-faceted student patient population that includes making autonomous medical decisions responsive to the presenting patient’s needs. 

• Supervises and facilitates a team of medical service providers (Physician, nurse practitioners, nurses, etc.) to meet the needs of students and campus stakeholders.

Leadership (20%)

• Directs the development and implementation of short and long-range strategic plans for the health center which are consistent with its Mission and Vision, the Mission and goals of the Division of Student Affairs, and those of the University of Louisville.

• Provides strategic vision, leadership, and organizational and administrative oversight to Campus Health Services.

• Ensures that primary care, occupational health, and psychiatric services are provided to students and trainees on Belknap and Health Sciences campuses.

• Serves as a critical member of the Student Wellbeing Group that is comprised of units reporting to the AVP for Student Wellbeing including Campus Recreation, Campus Health, and the Student Counseling Center.

• Establishes and maintains strong, productive collaborative relationships with the Student.

• Counseling Center, Campus Recreation, all other departments within Student Affairs, and stakeholders on the HSC campus and across the university.

• Maintains contacts with students on a regular basis through such opportunities as the meetings and on-campus student events.

• Collaborates with key administrative and other colleagues across campus as necessary in the provision of health-related consultation services and public health functions.

Operations (15%)

• Directs the fiscal operation of the health center to include the development of a long-range financial plan, an annual revenue and expense budget, and the ongoing monitoring of its implementation.
