The Transportation and Reception Associate is responsible for assisting in the transportation needs of the agency and assisting in reception of new program participants. This position is also tasked with ensuring the safety of all program participants and agency property, while ensuring compliance with program rules and WestCare policies.
Essential Job Functions include those listed below.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervises program participants under the direction of the Program Coordinator and/or Program Director, reporting unusual changes as they occur
Assists in the transportation needs of the agency
Assists in the reception of new program participants
Facilitates mentoring, discipline, safety, and shift/overnight observation of participants
Utilizes approved crisis intervention techniques to assist with de-escalation of situations, ensuring resident, staff, and visitor safety
Assists with the receiving of new program participants
Participates in 24/7 coverage by working a flexible schedule, properly tracking hours worked, and consistently arriving to scheduled shifts on time
Monitors participant whereabouts and activity to be sure they maintain acceptable behavior and remain on the property, or have appropriate paperwork needed to leave the property
Assists in the implementation of recreational activities for program participants, participating where appropriate
Ensures the facility is kept clean and in working order
Assists other WestCare staff as needed to promote cooperation and portray a professional image to the community

Perform all other duties as assigned.
QualificationsESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Essential Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience working in social and behavioral sciences, or a similar field required
Must be at least 21 years old or older
Ability to work well, both individually and as part of a team
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion
Adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Associate's Degree preferred
Certification and Licensure Requirements:
Valid Driver's License and the ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed within a treatment facility, but outside work and out-of-state travel may occasionally be required
Flexible work hours and regular attendance is required

Physical Demands:
Tasks that involve no exposure to human blood, body fluids, or tissues but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, BUT exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available to every employee engaged in Category II tasks
Occasional lifting of more than 25 pounds;
Occasional risk of intensive physical activity with clients; and
Sitting, standing, walking, reaching are performed in the normal course of the position.
Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential, or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems are required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files). Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations using approved physical de-escalation techniques.
Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is required to impart oral information to employees, clients, patients, and the public, and in those activities in which the employee is required to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
