Senior Project Manager 2

GAI Consultants Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager in our Power & Energy Business Unit. GAI is an established Mid-Atlantic engineering firm with growing presence in the Southwest. GAI’s Power & Energy Business Unit focuses on developing and supporting Energy, Institutional, Industrial, and Manufacturing clients. An ideal candidate’s opportunities would include developing client and business relationships, providing staff management, design of electric distribution networks, renewable integration, and substation design and providing engineering expertise across a diverse range of multi-discipline design and construction projects. This position is eligible for GAI’s flexible hybrid and/or remote work schedules and a Sign-on Bonus (for direct applicants to GAI). 

Responsibilities:

• Building solid relationships with Power & Energy clients and internal clients within GAI’s Business Sectors.
• Supporting business development pursuits, developing statements of qualifications and proposed project scopes, from a technical standpoint.
• Developing a solid understanding of and marketing the services GAI performs.
• Collaborating, developing, and executing our business plan.
• Serving as a primary seller/doer for the Power Delivery Engineering Business Sector throughout our active and developing service territories, with specific focus on electric and renewable integration programs.  
• Providing design, management, and technical direction and oversight associated with on multi-discipline design and construction projects.
• Leading teams to successfully execute all assigned projects.
• Working with Accounting staff to monitor and control project costs and billings to meet budgeted profit.

Minimum Years of Experience

• Minimum of 18 years of total engineering or technical experience, with at least 10 of those years serving as a Project Manager leading and directing technical projects or portfolios, preferably with an engineering consulting organization or similar professional.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering or applicable technical discipline as required.
• Advanced technical degree or MBA is strongly preferred.

Certification/Licensure

• Professional Engineering License (PE) is preferred.

Technical Responsibilities

• Required mathematical skills are commensurate with the technical or engineering discipline practiced (e.g., engineering calculations, design, etc.)
• Demonstrated mastery of fundamental project management financial concepts, including developing pricing, cost budget monitoring, calculating profit, etc.
• Demonstrate in-depth understanding of software as needed to successfully perform the duties described here, including MS Office Suite applications and software, CAD programs, document management systems, database software, HR Systems, internet software, and reporting tools related to databases.
• Experience with Deltek for Professional Services as a Project Management / Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Platform, including Client Relationship Management applications is preferred.

Project and Task Management

• Approximately 40% of job duties are dedicated to project management and technical delivery.
