Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a Senior Simulation Data Engineer.
Our Simulation ML and Data Science team is responsible for developing data-driven approaches to advance development and validation of the Aurora Driver. We build technology that helps make the most use of our on-road data by improving signals from simulation tests and creating variations that challenge the Aurora Driver’s capabilities. We help establish offline testing as a trusted and efficient complement to on-road driving.
We’re searching for a Simulation Data Engineer to lay the foundation in making data-informed decisions that impact the safety of Autonomous Vehicle behaviors, verification and validation of Aurora's self-driving technology and business growth.
While interviewing, you will be expected to intelligently reason about data-driven approaches to leverage offline simulation in the verification and validation of autonomous driving. Your role will interface with Product, Autonomy Development, Systems and Safety Engineering teams and will drive mission-critical decisions in a multi-trillion dollar industry.
In this role, you will
- Build pipelines to analyze results of large simulation tests to extract insights that inform autonomy software development and validation
- Design and build infrastructure to support our ML development workflow, such as data collection, processing, evaluation and iteration
- Support development of key metrics for safety and performance of autonomous driving in selected Operational Design Domains (ODDs), based on first principles, as well as an analysis of manual and autonomous driving miles
- Identify, utilize, or create as appropriate the needed technical machinery for large scale data analysis and visualization
- Surface succinct, actionable data widely in regularly updated dashboards
- Work with Motion Planning, Perception, Safety and Simulation engineers to ensure their respective teams have the information they need to make timely, informed decisions
- Support your team with code reviews and ideas as part of a collaborative environment
