About the role

Job Description:

The Partnerships & Platform division is responsible for all elements of strategic partnerships for the dentsu Media practice in the US. The team sits at the intersection of dentsu's media agencies (Carat, iProspect and dentsuX), clients, investment and activation communities, and Amplifi, the commercial innovation arm for dentsu. The team is responsible for translating the business needs of dentsu's clients, the strategic and commercial imperatives of dentsu itself, as well as emergent and established trends across the industry and society into strategic, value-driven, and beneficial partnerships. They also set the strategic agenda for partnerships for dentsu in the marketplace, in new business and in product/solution design within dentsu.

The Group Director, Commercial Partnerships will report into the VP, Commercial Partnerships and operate as a subject matter expert in B2B and Retail/Commerce both internally and externally. You will work across adjacent media channels, environmental contexts, and disciplines to shape and implement partnership strategies within your area of expertise. This includes negotiating and securing partnership agreements aligned with that strategy, and ensuring those partnerships meet goals by delivering: strategic impact, innovation, and value creation.

You will collaborate within multiple capabilities at dentsu—including technology, media investment and activation, trading, and planning/strategy—requiring an ability to collaborate with diverse partners to create mutually beneficial outcomes. You will help future-proof dentsu's business by forging partnerships with important vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple relationships with partners in the market

  • Provide consistent communication and organization of important partnership details to our teams and leadership, ensuring all nuances of commercial agreements are captured and tracked for deal progression. Maintain centralized documentation for easy access and distribution across the organization.

  • Co-develop and implement partnership strategy with the VP, Partnerships.

  • Be a leader and subject-matter-expert in B2B and Commerce within the Partnership community while embracing cross-channel strategy.

  • Collaborate with Investment & Activation teams and Amplifi to align partnership strategies with client needs, while educating teams on deal terms and driving new testing and value opportunities.

  • Be the important integrator across our teams and external partners, promoting collaboration and ensuring engagement across multiple variables

  • Provide daily management of commercial terms to ensure delivery of all negotiated deal points.

  • Excellence and consistency in execution of deals, including reporting, ways of working, endeavor tracking and partnership compliance.

  • Create dentsu and client Joint-Business-Plans and ensure all negotiated value is capitalized on.

  • Help develop Partnership themes and lead in external communications of these in market (panels, PR, articles).

  • Consult on client business to build custom partnership plans and subject-matter-expertise of partner landscape.

  • Participate in new business as subject-matter-expert in specialism and Partnership leader on value proposition for potential client.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years' experience in the digital industry as a partnership or investment lead at a reputable agency or partner.

  • Proven track record of exceptional project management, with the ability to prioritize tasks and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and analytical capabilities; comfortable presenting complex metrics to C-level stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated professionalism and composure in all situations.

  • Experience with problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Translate complex concepts into clear, relevant solutions.

The annual base salary range for this position is $113,000-$182,850. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law. Additionally, this position is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.
