The Vernova Electrical Systems (ES) team develops advanced electrical power technologies for several of GE Vernova’s businesses. Key focus areas include advanced motors and generators for power generation and industry; power electronics and their integration into electrical systems; electrical power systems with strength in modeling, analysis, design, protection, and control.

As a Senior Engineer – High Voltage Engineering & Dielectrics, you will work in a team to broaden and accelerate our leadership position in the HV, MV, dielectrics and electrical insulation systems field. The long-term goal is to identify new strategic areas working closely with insulation testing and materials research teams that utilize novel insulation status monitoring, advanced dielectric material properties and dielectric techniques which can result in new material systems or new devices.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop insulation coordination design methodology, dielectrics status monitoring techniques, and new materials with novel dielectric properties for projects relating electrification, renewable energy and decarbonization.

  • Work in a team to develop such methodology and materials by conducting analyses such as electrical circuit analysis, finite element analysis, partial discharge test, dielectric spectroscopy, impedance spectroscopy, voltage endurance, polarization techniques, PEA, TSDC and other fundamental techniques.

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex polymer/dielectric topics.

  • Ability to lead projects with government and GE Vernova business customers.

  • Acts as a resource and mentor for colleagues.

  • Explains information, developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Physics, HV Engineering or related field with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in high voltage insulation or related field.

  • Record of external publications which demonstrate high quality research in the area of dielectrics or electrical insulation systems

  • Demonstrated success in meeting goals and objectives on time

  • Outstanding experimental research skills

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals at the Masters or Bachelors level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
