Purpose of the position: 

  • The Vice President for Philanthropy is a full-time position that serves as a strategic partner to the Executive Vice President of Mission Success in accomplishing the overall goals of the philanthropic work of the CCO. This senior-level role will lead the major gifts efforts, focusing exclusively on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding significant philanthropic investments. This role is responsible for developing a personal annual portfolio while also managing a team of Major Gift Officers to drive additional revenue. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build the CCO's visibility, impact, and financial resources.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education: 
    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or fundraising certification preferred.
  • Experience: 
    • Minimum of 7 years of major gift fundraising experience and managing a donor portfolio of high-capacity givers.
    • Demonstrated success in managing and mentoring fundraising professionals.
    • Experience in faith-based or nonprofit organizations is strongly preferred.

Job Description:

  • Manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors, focusing on securing gifts of $10,000+ and achieving a $3 million annual fundraising goal.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Major Gift Officers, fostering a high-performing team culture and supporting their fundraising efforts.
  • Develop and execute personalized donor strategies, collaborating with leadership, board members, and program staff to identify new prospects and drive engagement.
  • Use data-driven methods to track progress, maintain accurate records, and provide regular performance reports to the executive team.
