Collins Aerospace is looking for a Supplier Quality Manager at their Richardson, TX, location. The Mission Assurance organization ensures that known good parts and services are received from the supply chain. As a Supplier Quality Manager you will manage the supplier quality engineers onsite as well as conduct supplier oversight. You're the primary quality interface between other internal functional groups and the supplier quality engineers.  You will provide both communication of requirements and performance feedback on suppliers to all internal onsite functions. You will ensure that supplier quality engineers understand program requirements, thoroughly work RCCAs, and oversee site process improvement projects. You will work proactively with suppliers, supplier quality, Program quality, and engineering to identify risk mitigation strategies for critical suppliers.  You will provide feedback and develop the supplier quality engineers. This position requires a thorough understanding and experience with the application of both Quality and Technical Data Package requirements across a variety of commodities.   

What You Will Do:

  • Ability to lead a team, provide performance feedback, train, and communicate thoughts cross functionally
  • Interface across a matrix environment to determine requirements, develop plan for fulfilling the specific procured material requirements, while meeting the overall programmatic requirements
  • Support Programs RFP and bidding process and support program life cycle
  • Participate on cross-functional supplier selection teams, advocating best value, technical solutions and suppliers which can best meet the overall quality requirements
  • Identify and document supplier risk; develop mitigation plans to reduce, eliminate and prevent supplied product defects
  • Lead containment activities associated with discrepant material, with assistance from functional stakeholders
  • Lead and participate in multi-functional teams in process improvement activities
  • Perform defect data analysis and review with the program managers and supplier management, which will assist in developing Supplier improvement plans
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to various Suppliers or Collins facilities within the U.S.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Knowledge of assembly/manufacturing processes, integration and test operations and procedures in a high-reliability environment
  • Must have knowledge of Quality systems, ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9102, AS9145 Statistical analysis processes and tools, Supplier Rating Systems and Supplier Assessment processes
  • Knowledge and experience in the effective use of Root Cause Corrective Action, risk assessment, containment, mitigation, and analysis tools and processes.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Knowledge of Supplier Management and Improvement practices and processes such as APQP, PPAP, PFMEAs, SPC, etc
  • The effective candidate will be able to resolve technical issues with respect to product processes, systems, and deliverables in engineering, supply chain and quality and at the supplier.
  • Strong follow through and ability to develop practical solutions to a wide range of problems in quality systems, materials, electronics, optics, and mechanical products
  • Lead and participate in multi-functional teams in process improvement activities
  • Perform defect data analysis and review with the program managers and supplier management, which will assist in developing Supplier improvement plans
