Summary
The Fairbanks In-Court Division is seeking highly dependable individuals to become Courtroom Judicial Assistants (salary range 12).

This Position
This position performs advanced in-court case management and courtroom clerk duties in support of judicial proceedings. Responsibilities include preparing courtrooms for daily hearings and trials; operating and monitoring digital recording systems; administering courtroom documentation; managing exhibits, witness lists, and jury materials; maintaining accurate case records; entering and updating case information in electronic case management systems; calendaring hearings; issuing and processing court orders, warrants, and dispositions; and ensuring compliance with court rules, statutes, and established procedures. The position coordinates with judges, attorneys, law enforcement, correctional facilities, jurors, and the public to facilitate efficient courtroom operations, processes post-hearing documentation, prepares records for appeal, responds to records requests, and maintains courtroom supplies and exhibits.
Additional responsibilities include processing criminal charging documents, supporting arraignments, providing cross-coverage for other court functions, traveling to outlying locations as needed, and working extended, weekend, holiday, or on-call hours to meet the operational needs of the court.

- Experience handling stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Experience dealing with high-priority, confidential, or sensitive information.
- Experience or knowledge of legal procedures.
- Experience preparing professional documents and applying rules and regulations when processing documents.
- Experience performing multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and remaining calm, organized, and accurate.
- Experience working positively and productively in a team environment
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience level (50+ wpm) or expert level (60+ wpm) keyboarding proficiency

The Fairbanks Trial Court is located in the beautiful Rabinowitz Courthouse located at 101 Lacey Street in Downtown Fairbanks. Our building is located next to Golden Heart Plaza, the Alaska Siberia World War II Memorial, several bike paths, and the Chena River. The Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
