This role will provide Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) capabilities to NASA’s Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (ESDMD) in support of Science, Technology Utilization and Integration (STUI) content with Moon to Mars Program Exploration Operations.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based in Houston, TX, located at the Johnson Space Center. This is a hybrid work model requiring at least 3 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead integration and coordination activities and content related to science integration, capability integration, and utilization across the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate’s (ESDMD) Strategy and Architecture (SAO) STUI office and the Moon to Mars (M2M) Exploration Operations (EO) office
- Lead coordination and integration of STUI and EO utilization goals and requirements across stakeholder communities
- Participate in forums for technical discussions where decisions are made related to concepts, mission architecture, testing/training, requirements, and verifications
- Review and provide technical input to formal program products
- Facilitate various working groups across the stakeholder community, including international content and counterparts
- Facilitate strategic planning and execution of the Utilization Coordination & Integration Group (UCIG)
- Develop and maintain multiyear utilization outlooks and timelines (ex: mission, crew, science, resources)
- Maintain team schedules, which will include international participants, as well as task tracking and task completion
- Establish prioritization efforts by working closely with STUI and EO, document, integrate and provide advocacy for prioritization outcomes
- Engage in Strategy and Architecture and Moon to Mars Program efforts and forums as necessary to ensure integration and coordination of content. This can include facilitation of working groups, workshops, and forums with internal and external stakeholders
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the <Project Engineer>
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science, or other applicable STEM areas
- At least 6 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in systems engineering
- Knowledge and understanding of the NASA program life cycle and system engineering processes
- Ability to effectively utilize oral and written communication to express technical concepts and recommendations to personnel at all technical and managerial levels
- Ability to work effectively and quickly in real-time environments of rapid change, conflicting requirements, and occasional pressure
- Innovation, creativity, and initiative
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
- Experience with flight operations timeline management
- Willing to travel domestically approx. [10%] if required.
- This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the <Project Leader> include:
- Experience serving as integration leader and/or coordinator of a team
