Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a NSHE Specialist I – Clinical Operations Manager for Counseling Services. The Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the administrative, operational, and technological infrastructure of the Counseling Services department. Reporting to the Director of Counseling Services, this position ensures efficient delivery of clinical services by managing frontline administrative operations, supervising support staff, and serving as the primary contact for IT, HR, and fiscal functions. As a member of the department’s Leadership Team and Clinical Services Committee, the Clinical Operations Manager supports strategic decision-making with data-informed recommendations on service demand, scheduling, and compliance. This position supervises the front desk manager, manages complex scheduling for clinical staff, and leads the development and enforcement of departmental and university policies and procedures. Additionally, this position oversees onboarding, performance evaluations, recruitment efforts for classified and faculty employees, and ensures compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and university regulations.

The Clinical Operations Manager is also responsible for budget planning and analysis for operating and grant funds, handling procurement activities, project management, and preparing university system funding requests and costing allocations. The position also serves as system administrator for the Titanium electronic records system, developing customized features, troubleshooting technical issues, and training staff on secure usage and upgrades.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has prior experience and knowledge working within Workday finance and HMS system modules.

  • Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail and organizational skill in fast-paced, service-driven settings.

  • Has experience supervising administrative teams, navigating crisis situations with professionalism, and improving service workflows.

  • Possesses working knowledge of HR operations, financial systems, and compliance regulations in higher education or healthcare settings.

  • Values inclusivity, equity, and trauma-informed approaches in mental health service environments.

  • Communicates effectively across interdisciplinary teams and thrives in dynamic, people-centered environments.
