CDL Driver

Description

The CDL Driver is tasked with safely and efficiently transporting finished goods, products, and materials between Tangent facilities, adhering to all relevant regulations, and ensuring timely delivery.

Role and Responsibilities / Essential Functions 

• Vehicle Operation: Safely operates a semi-truck in alignment with state and federal transportation laws and efficiently transports loads, obeying all traffic laws and observing safety regulations. 
• Loading and Unloading: Skillfully maneuvers truck and trailer into designated areas based on loading crew signals. Assists or manages the loading and unloading of goods and materials, utilizing specialized equipment when necessary. 
• Equipment Maintenance and Optimization: Conducts routine checks on trucks, including oil, water, gasoline, and air levels, promptly reporting any malfunctions to the Shipping Supervisor. Strategically arranges trailers in shipping yards to enhance loading patterns. 
• Safety Compliance: Adheres strictly to safety protocols and standards throughout all transportation activities. 
• Training: Continuously upgrades skills to stay updated with transportation regulations and efficient vehicle operations. 
• Quality Assurance: Ensures that all transported goods maintain their quality and are safeguarded during transit. 
• Additional Duties: Undertakes any other related tasks as required. 

Requirements

Required Skills / Abilities / Competencies 

• Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of and adherence to state and federal transportation regulations. 
• Driving Expertise: Proficiency in operating a semi-truck and trailer, including intricate maneuvers in various conditions. 
• Equipment Familiarity: Capability to employ specialized equipment for specific loading and unloading tasks. 

Education and Experience 

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. 
• Experience: Possession of a commercial driver’s license appropriate for the weight of the vehicle. 
• Work Authorization: Authorized to work in the US. 

Mental/Physical Requirements 

• Endurance: Equipped for frequent travel and can handle prolonged sessions of sitting in a truck cab.  
• Physical Strength: Has the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
