This position is responsible for product management of existing products through use of rates, rules and forms. Additionally, there will be responsibility for new market development and new product development. This position serves as a commercial property and casualty product management expert in a commercial multi-line environment and will support business goals and implement best practices for all operating units within Specialty Lines. This position exercises broad discretion, judgment and provides enterprise-wide operational consistency, integrity and oversight. This position must work with large amounts of data to understand and direct highly complex business processes and/or improvement efforts across multiple departments or lines of business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Developing a comprehensive product strategy for overall profitability of the assigned book using pricing, coverage, and risk appetite levers to achieve profitability objectives for Specialty Lines.
- Leads the research, analysis and implementation of new or existing product ideas, market development, and product enhancements, including creating supporting business cases, designing solutions, and implementing innovative products for multiple commercial lines of insurance.
- Analyze and review financial results, product profitability, business mix, and competitive information.
- Collaborate with internal partners in Underwriting, Analytics, Actuarial, IT, and Claims to understand profitability and market opportunities and risks.
- Collaborates with Corp UW Line of Business owner, develops underwriting guidelines and letters of authority, for new programs / products within the multi-line commercial lines arena.
- Present product performance versus expectations to Senior Management noting variance drivers and possible solutions for future opportunities.
- Plays a key role in the development of short- and long-term strategic product & underwriting strategies in support of AF Group’s business and profitability goals.
- Serves as a key contact for developing and implementing new products or organizational practices specific to the product.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business, Math, Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of product management experience, or five years commercial property and casualty multi-line underwriting, actuarial experience, or data analytics experience.
- Progress towards, or completion of, industry-recognized professional designations (i.e., CIC, AU, CPCU) preferred. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Extensive knowledge of commercial property and casualty with strong multi-line experience.
- Experience in insurance product management
- Microsoft Office knowledge, specifically comfortable with Excel (pivot tables, arrays, v-lookups, etc.) to analyze large data sets
- Proven experience in using data driven methods in decision making and strong analysis skills
- Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret policy documents, policy language, technical and financial information, and procedure manuals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills to identify improvement needs and develop solutions.
- Ability to effectively communicate information clearly and concisely, present ideas, report facts and other information, and respond to questions as appropriate.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate while creating and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with working partners.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines with minimal direction.
- Ability to perform necessary mathematical computations.
