The Power Electronic Engineering Fellow will have the responsibility of leading the research and development of EV charger power electronics technology at Lincoln Electric. This individual will collaborate with engineering teams across various businesses to develop and implement proven and robust power electronic systems for EV charging. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

 

Job Description

  • Have broad and comprehensive expertise in leading-edge theories, techniques and/or technologies within own function or discipline for EV chargers
  • Develop and implement new power electronics circuits to support the introduction of new EV charging products
  • Be recognized as an external thought leader within strategic function or discipline for EV chargers
  • Leads development team to achieve milestones and objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on implementation of power electronics into their applicable EV charging equipment
  • Participate in the development of the product or business strategy for EV chargers
  • Understand and navigate regulatory requirements to ensure designs meet required standards
  • Oversee EMI/EMC testing and development strategy for EV charger products
  • Evaluate and establish policies, processes and best practices for the use of testing and implementing new power electronics circuits for EV chargers
  • Establish a process for having in depth functional reviews with an emphasis on the power electronics functionality for EV chargers
  • Oversee validation testing related to power electronic component obsolescence for EV chargers
  • Implement a process for mentoring and training engineers with a knowledge of power electronics design for EV chargers
  • Proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business for EV chargers
  • Operate with broad latitude in a complex environment for EV chargers
  • Possess an advanced degree in field of specialization for EV chargers

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 15+ years’ relevant experience
  • Detailed knowledge of EV charging applications and how the power electronic systems impact the charging performance
  • Design experience related to:
    • Three phase PFC front end AC/DC converters
    • DC/DC resonant converter or other soft switching topologies
    • EV Chargers and associated power electronic designs
    • Bidirectional topologies
  • Ability to lead a development group when needed for EV chargers
  • Ability to travel to Cleveland to work with extended team on a regular basis
