JOB TITLE:   

Pharmacy Technician-in-Training - Family Medicine Residency Programs Casper 

JOB PURPOSE:

Prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist in a fast-paced pharmacy. May measure, mix, count, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications. Assist patients while being professional and accurate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accept new written prescriptions from patients collecting all demographic, drug allergy, and relevant medical condition information; accept refill requests by phone or in person.
  • Assist patients with pricing of medications, insurance and third-party payer questions, and patient assistance programs.
  • Input prescriptions (new and refill) into computer for processing; notify pharmacist of any warnings or concerns.
  • Prepare prescriptions for dispensing, including selection of medication from inventory, counting, placing medication in appropriate container, and labeling.
  • Assist customers and healthcare providers by answering simple questions in-person and on the telephone, locating items or referring to the pharmacist for medication information.
  • Contact clinician offices for refill authorizations.
  • Assist the pharmacist in the management of inventory, including unpacking, logging in, placing stock on shelves, drug returns and disposal, and auditing.
  • Assist pharmacy staff with any 340B Drug Pricing Program functions, including but not limited to auditing, drug returns, policy development, and report analysis.
  • Deliver medications curbside (outside clinic) and to patients’ homes.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to clinic customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work at the clinic location in Casper, WY.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education:  High school diploma or GED equivalent

Experience: 1 year work-related experience in a customer service or retail setting 

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: 

  • Active Technician-in-Training License from the Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy

          or

  • Able to obtain Technician-in-Training License from the Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy after hire (must receive tech-in-training license no later than 90 days after hire date).
  • Must be able to obtain a Certified Pharmacy Technician License from the Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy before Technician-in-Training License expires
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy
