Job Description

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, collects blood samples by performing venipunctures or finger or heel sticks on patients. Checks the quality of blood and assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of the patient following established standards and practices. Processes all samples within the department, either manually or using automation equipment.  Responsible for outstanding customer service through verbal and written communication. Also responsible for test order entry. As required.  Provide guidance and support and oversees day-to-day operations of administrative and clinical and non-clinical support services.

Primary Responsibilities

•    Performs all the duties of Phlebotomy Technician III
•    Provides daily oversight and assistance to Phlebotomy Tech staff including creation of staff schedules.
•    Participates in training, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities, gives in-services.
•    Participates in hiring, recommends and participates in counseling and coaching sessions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience - Required

•    Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) 
•    Education: Completion of an accredited program in Phlebotomy 
•    Experience: 5 year of relevant experience

Education & Experience - Preferred

•    Certification as a registered Phlebotomist by a nationally recognized Phlebotomy Society, such as the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians
•    Experience in a hospital or outpatient health care setting

•    Understanding of basic billing compliance

Compensation:
Pay Range: $20.47 - $28.64
