The Assistant Director will oversee and manage all aspects of student accounts and loans, including payments, refunds, and adjustments. Counsels’ students and parents regarding payment options, financial aid applications and awards. Coordinates reconciliation of daily bank report to student payments with the General Accounting Office. Manages and reconciles monthly payment plans through third party servicer. Maintains collection agency inventory for past due student accounts. Oversee institutional loan entrance and exit counseling process. Primary contact for Student Account issues in Director’s absence. Manages and resolves account issues and problems for Student Financial Services Representatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers all aspects of undergraduate and graduate students' accounts.  Maintains and verifies billing information and makes appropriate adjustments. Processes all payments (checks, cash, wire).  Reviews eligibility and processes refunds.  Approves refunds requiring second authorization.

  • Manages accounts receivable. Advises and counsels families regarding payment options. Performs collection activities on delinquent accounts and serves as primary contact with our external collection agencies. Prepares appropriate accounts for submission to outside collections.   Coordinates billing for inactive accounts.

  • Manages and reconciles the University monthly payment plan, as well as payments received via the payment gateway, through third party payment provider. Reviews account activity, reviews and processes payment provider's reports, reconciling all funds to the bank reports. Coordinates with Accounting regarding monthly and year end reconciliation. Oversees the entrance and exit counseling process for institutional loan borrowers. 

  • Coordinates reconciliation of all transactions through the general student account clearing account.  Prepares Workday Student Deposits, reconciling to bank reports. Reviews month end close issues from General Accounting and work with the responsible staff to resolve outstanding issues. Coordinates collection agency activity on past due accounts. Processes agency payments and reviews inventory. Research disputes and adjust accounts as necessary.

  • Supervises and trains Student Financial Services Representatives and assigns tasks as needed. Resolves account issues and system problems for Student Financial Services Representatives. Serves as primary contact for student account issues in the Director’s absence.

Education & Work Experience:

  • BA/BS required.

  • 3-5 years total work-related experience with 1-3 years of supervisory experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • May make presentations to department or middle management.

  • Advanced knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with ability to apply in routine situations.
