About this opportunity:
As the Director, Human Resources – Cenovus Downstream, you will lead and execute the people strategy for Cenovus’s Downstream business in close partnership with the Head of Downstream in Dublin, OH, and the Leadership Team, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and long-term business goals. Within a highly matrixed organization, you will collaborate extensively with HR Centers of Excellence to integrate governance, programs, analytics, and talent strategies across functions and geographies. You will also guide the Downstream HR team in organizational design, talent development, culture, and workforce planning to support a complex, multi-site, multi-national operation.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and execute the Downstream HR strategy and U.S. People Plan in alignment with business and corporate priorities, operating effectively within a highly matrixed structure
- Manage and develop a high-performing HR team supporting multi-site operations, partnering closely with HR COEs to integrate governance, programs, analytics, and talent strategies
- Drive organizational design, workforce planning, capability development, and change leadership to ensure a future-ready Downstream workforce and operating model
- Leverage HR technology, people analytics, and workforce insights to guide strategic decision-making, support leadership, and inform board-level reporting
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the Head of Downstream and Leadership Team on talent, culture, organizational effectiveness, and succession planning
- Partner with Central HR Operations and Business Office teams to enhance employee experience, streamline processes, and advance digital HR solutions
- Support labor relations strategy for represented sites, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and alignment with broader Downstream HR goals
Who you are:
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role leading multidisciplined teams
- Deep expertise in employee relations, coaching, organizational design, and leading change within complex, multi-site environments.
- Experience in large, multi-national organizations such as manufacturing or operations settings with represented (unionized) workforces.
- Strong influence and relationship-building skills, with the ability to lead effectively in matrixed environments and partner with senior leaders.
- Proficiency with HR technology, analytics, and digital HR tools, with HR certifications (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR)
