About the role

Job Summary:

The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of employees by providing occupational health services, managing workplace injuries and illnesses, and supporting health and safety initiatives. The OHN collaborates with management, employees, and external providers to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work health assessments.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care for workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Manage workers’ compensation cases, including documentation and follow-up.
  • Monitor and support compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement health promotion and wellness programs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records.
  • Participate in workplace hazard assessments and ergonomic evaluations.
  • Provide health education and counseling to employees.
  • Collaborate with DMMI HRBP team members regarding absence management and/or accommodations.
  • Coordinate with external healthcare providers and insurance carriers as needed.
  • Other duties related to Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan. Bachelor's Degree preferred. 
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN or COHN-S) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of nursing experience; occupational health experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation laws, and HIPAA.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily on-site in an industrial and manufacturing setting.
  • May require occasional travel to satellite locations.
  • Must be able to respond to medical emergencies and perform physical assessments.

Annual Salary: $68,000-$85,000
