About the role
Job Summary:
The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of employees by providing occupational health services, managing workplace injuries and illnesses, and supporting health and safety initiatives. The OHN collaborates with management, employees, and external providers to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work health assessments.
- Provide first aid and emergency care for workplace injuries and illnesses.
- Manage workers’ compensation cases, including documentation and follow-up.
- Monitor and support compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement health promotion and wellness programs.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records.
- Participate in workplace hazard assessments and ergonomic evaluations.
- Provide health education and counseling to employees.
- Collaborate with DMMI HRBP team members regarding absence management and/or accommodations.
- Coordinate with external healthcare providers and insurance carriers as needed.
- Other duties related to Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN or COHN-S) preferred.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of nursing experience; occupational health experience preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation laws, and HIPAA.
- Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily on-site in an industrial and manufacturing setting.
- May require occasional travel to satellite locations.
- Must be able to respond to medical emergencies and perform physical assessments.
Annual Salary: $68,000-$85,000
