What you'll do...

Join the Walmart Health & Wellness Compliance team to support the growth and expansion of Pharmacy services at the world’s largest retailer!  Director – Controlled Substance Compliance Inventory Management is a critical thought-leadership role that will be at the forefront of supporting Walmart Pharmacies and Pharmacy leadership.  Reporting to the Group Director, Controlled Substance Compliance, you will collaborate with other members of the Compliance team to support our pharmacies by helping to lead an effective compliance program, driving regulatory compliance, identifying potential compliance risks associated with business strategies, and establishing effective controls and compliance oversight related to those risks. 

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in healthcare compliance, to include prior experience with regulatory agency contacts pertaining to controlled substance inventories.

  • Investigatory and/or regulatory enforcement experience preferred, with emphasis on state and federal regulations with respect to theft/loss and diversion techniques for controlled substances.

  • Experience and familiarity with relevant pharmacy inventory regulatory requirements, including federal and state pharmacy regulations and controlled substance policies and procedures.

  • Experience and familiarity with the federal Controlled Substance Ordering System.

  • You are process-oriented and forward thinking continually looking for opportunities to streamline processes for improved efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Strong communication skills to interact with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, legal liaisons, Boards of Pharmacy, and federal and state regulatory agencies.

  • Strong communication skills necessary to manage sensitive information and difficult conversations -- ability to explain the “why” behind the processes.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams within a corporate environment.

  • Leadership ability to balance a team with various skills and experience.

  • Ability to juggle requests that incorporate operational success with compliance requirements.  

  • You’re organized, disciplined, and can manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • You’re stimulated by challenges and are ready to engage at Fortune 1 scale.

 What you’ll do:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and point of contact for pharmacists to assist in understanding corporate policies and state and/or federal law pertaining to inventories, etc.

  • Serve as a SME in addressing training opportunities for pharmacists and Market and Regional Leaders to develop understanding of and incorporate a balance between inventory concerns and patient care. 

  • Partner with Market Leaders when gaps are identified for teaching/training/accountability regarding controlled substance inventory concerns.

  • Communicate with leaders to increase collaboration and harmony with local Walmart and Sams Club pharmacies. (i.e., explain policies with respect to inventories, ordering, disposing of controlled substances).

  • Identify ways to incorporate automation into daily tasks.

  • Be available and open to travel to our pharmacies across the United States.
