Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with orthotic practitioners in the evaluation & analysis of patient needs for orthotic services.
  • Perform fitting of prefabricated and custom fitted orthotic devices and/or soft goods related to a patient’s needs, as indicated by an orthotic practitioner or physician; execute minor modifications as necessary.
  • Evaluate orthotic device on patient, adjust to assure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work.
  • Instruct patient in use of the device and reconcile issues to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Perform outcomes measures, medical history documentation, and clinical notes annotation support for clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with Verification, Authorization and Billing teams to ensure proper medical documentation and required insurance authorizations are on file when providing services.
  • Participate in required continuing education opportunities deemed necessary.
  • Travel to offsite locations within a reasonable distance from home office to provide patient care or visit/educate referral sources.
  • Comply with Corporate Compliance, HIPAA responsibilities, OSHA requirements, as well as Medicare and other governmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to assess patient conditions and recommend treatment options.
  • Aptitude in casting and model modification techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and participate with a team approach.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Exhibit strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and use of good judgment in resolving issues.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office and databases.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology.
  • Certified by The American Board for Certification or Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) a plus.
  • Two years of experience in Orthotics and Prosthetics preferred
