Sr Finance Data Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Senior Finance Data Analyst assists in the design, development, maintenance, and continuous refinement of financial models, analytics and database management used to house data from landfill engineering budget models. The Senior Analyst – Financial Data Analytics stays current on the latest technology and proactively implements proof-of-concepts to meet the technology demands of internal customers.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Regularly interacts with the Corporate and Field engineering and finance organizations to assist in the identification, analysis and research of technical excel issues.

• Supports financial models used by the finance team in their budgeting process.

• Provides underlying data support for business metrics.

• Writes ETL scripts using Python, SQL, or similar tools.

• Designs and builds automated processes that leverage Excel, VBA, SQL, and Python to facilitate data transfer across platforms.

• Designs dashboards and tools to allow users to consume and interact with data.

• Maintains related system and tool documentation.

• Ensures security and integrity across all data.

• Troubleshoots and debugs issues.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

• Proficiency with relational databases and the ability to write SQL queries.

• Proficiency with programming in Python in data science and/or finance settings.

• Proficiency with Excel and PowerBI.

• Proficiency with source control (e.g. Github) in a multi- developer environment.

• Proficiency with financial budgeting and forecasting processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated experience working with relational databases in the context of developing ETL processes and implementing data and analytics solutions.

• Experience maintaining databases and tools in a production environment including query performance tuning and proactive maintenance.

• Demonstrated experience working with a formal software development methodology.

• Experience working in a finance or financial support organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• 4 - 7 years of experience with advanced programming in SQL and R or Python, deploying analytics models and tools in a production environment with relational databases.
