For this role we are seeking software engineers with a deep expertise in the software quality domain. Mapping team is looking for the first SDET to join the team and to improve the overall quality of our services and system. This role focuses on providing ground-up solutions that improve the quality of our mapping organization’s products and services, either through solving an individual quality challenge or driving team wide improvements. In this position, you will work closely with the engineering teams to lead the development of test strategies, test tooling/framework, and validation processes to help Cruise change transportation.
What You’ll Be Doing
Advocating for quality during the entire software development process, choosing the optimal testing techniques and tools to solve complex problems
Developing cross-product testing programs and infrastructure that allow us to measure product quality including tools for functional, load and resiliency testing
Develop the roadmaps and lead the execution of overall test strategy for the mapping ecosystem
Set up, configure, and maintain test environments in collaboration with SRE and Quality partners at Cruise.
Build tools to enhance and enable statistical analysis of quality.
You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:
8-10 years of development experience as a SDET/ Automation Engineer
Experience in domain of high availability and scalable microservices, distributed systems with heavy data loads, and common cloud platforms like AWS/GCP/Azure
Excellent programming skills. Preferably in Javascript / Node.js, Python and C++
Experience developing or automating for full stack applications
Experience with test tooling in the Javascript, Python
Proven experience in architecting and building a test framework from scratch.
2+ years of experience writing and implementing detailed test cases, test plans and test design documents.
Experience with Docker-based workloads using Kubernetes or other orchestration software
Bonus Points
Experience developing testing strategies/frameworks for geospatial data and perception sensor (lidar, rgb) data processing pipelines
Experience testing asynchronous workflows
Experience with React ecosystem or other web frontend frameworks
Experience with continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery Pipelines
Logging, monitoring, and alerting strategies in order to maintain SLAs
Experience with developing test strategies for sophisticated software systems scaling to millions of users, with production-quality deployment, monitoring and reliability.
Experience building test frameworks for distributed systems with distributed database systems and heavy data loads.
The salary range for this position is $170,000 - 250,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
