Maintenance Worker - Part-Time

Pay Range: $18.00/hr. - $21.31/hr.

A Maintenance Worker job is available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department Central District location. The Park and Recreation Department maintains more than 200 parks and public spaces citywide as well as providing recreational activities and educational programming that makes Fort Worth a great place to live, work and play.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma/GED
• Valid Driver’s license
• Must pass background check and drug test

Preferred Qualifications:

• Landscape maintenance experience

The Maintenance Worker job responsibilities include:

• Perform a variety of construction and maintenance activities in the completion of assigned divisional services and operations.
• Operate a variety of hand and small power tools and equipment such as push mowers, weed eaters, shovels, rake, trucks, pick axes and various other equipment in support of a variety of maintenance and construction operations.
• Perform grounds maintenance duties such as mowing grass, operating a weed eater, removing and trimming shrubbery, raking leaves and removing trash.
• Clean debris from ditches, culverts, and creek beds; collect and haul trash, garbage, debris, dirt, sand and gravel; backfill jobs as required.
• Perform additional construction and maintenance tasks such as grading, pouring concrete, asphalt, spreading, and filling potholes.
• Work with and around heavy construction equipment; complete and assist in strenuous repair, installation, or construction activities.

Working Conditions:

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions

Physical Conditions:

Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
